Overview of Training and Education Programs
|
| |
This is a key function of the Centre, which will have its own dedicated lecture-theatre. The training and education programs will take the form of: |
| |
| a. |
Once yearly world-class Diabetes Update regional courses. Diabetes is integrally linked with cardiology and both specialists frequently attend each others’ courses. For that reason, these courses will run over three days, where the first two days cover prevention and management of cardiology complications in diabetes, hence attracting both cardiologists and diabetologists from the region. The third day, intended for the diabetologists only, will be dedicated to more diabetes-specific topics such as insulin pump therapy and latest updates on pancreatic transplantation. |
| b. |
Monthly Seminars by invited leading authorities on diabetes and its complications from Imperial College London and other UK academic institutions and NHS hospitals. These seminars will primarily be for the doctors of the Centre as part of their Continuing Medical Education (CME), but local doctors wishing to attend will be welcome. |
| c. |
Weekly In-house Seminars for the doctors of the Centre to update them on new diabetes developments in the international scientific literature. This will ensure that the doctors remain updated at all times, and that changes to the treatment protocols and guidelines will be implemented as more evidence becomes available and new trials are published.
